During the first meeting character concepts and the venue itself was discussed. Very few people had the Changeling book and even fewer had read it. We spent the majority of the time fascinating about concepts and trying to work together PC ties. Nobody had settled on kith/seeming yet and a few people were still shaky about which Court they wanted to be part of.
The groundwork was laid for the feel of the venue, but it was missing some elements. The players decided that they wanted a lot of everything, but that the other venues were overloading them with character death and boring them with politicking.
It was discussed that there are other ways for danger and darkness to creep in and that not every threat needed to be life or death. Ultimately the players want to be challenged with things they cannot point at a book and identify and they want it to feel more like Indiana Jones instead of "Rome"... Above and beyond all that the players didn't want the True Fae to be in-their-face constantly and opted for a "mystery of the week" feel for the venue.
During the second meeting we were disjointed due to a change of scenery. We lost a few people to attrition before we had settled back together. A few of the players already had ideas for motleys. A lot of players shared their character concepts and the direction took a few twists and turns.
The key arguments were over the history of the chronicle and how far back was too far back. It has since been discussed that historic games could be used as snapshots of the current members of the Freehold as they entered and interacted with the established Freehold.
