Who has the Flu - and some thoughts on a cure

First things first - who has this uber-flu?

I know Phoenix does.
I know that as of tonight Tempest does not.
I know that I don't, but then I'm in Birmingham UK.

Phoenix thinks Solaris might have it.

Can anyone give me an update on the rest of the local mages.


As for curing it, Phoenix has said that magic seems to make it stronger.

Phoenix, have you tried Self Purging on yourself to cure the disease (Life-2)? If you have, was it by Rote or Improvised Casting? What happened if you did? (I'm betting you have, but want to confirm.)

I'm working on some theories about how to cure this disease, focusing on the fact that Spirit Numina do NOT invoke paradox and usually are not blocked by Supernal Magic, unless that blocking is focused directly upon Numina itself.

So at this point I've learned that the following have the flu:

Phoenix
Mortemor
Verdhandi
possible Solaris

Mortemor and Verdhandi have gone into quarantine at the Atheneium
Pheonix has gone into quarantine at his home.
- note that his daughter's flu has not mutated into the nastier version
- and at last word his wife Selena had not caught the mutated flu

I'm unsure of the situation with Solaris


Do we have anyone else showing flu symptoms?

I also have the flu and am currently at the Mysterium house...it seems to have taken a stronger hold on me due to other factors involved.

Yes, Cwrw. I *have* tried to purge it with lifey goodness. Made it worse. Right now, I'm keeping it "contained" within myself with a forces bubble of sorts. That's about all I can do. Literally. I haven't the energy for much else. In fact, I think I need a nap after typing this.

I was 99% sure you had tried. What I wondered was if you had used a rote or an improvised casting?
Knowing which way you went might help us in learning more about how the anti-magic flu reacts to magic.

My immune system was weakened by the miscarriage...so my system is having a harder time fighting the normal flu part of the virus.
