The Awakened of the Tri-Cities met at the Zodiac Gardens last weekend. There was a lot to discuss, but Arkos and myself decided to do more than just talk.
Arkos and myself went to investigate the happenings at the Henry Doorly Zoo. It was closed and after doing a once-over of the security system we decided not to risk breaking in, but to do the investigation during the normal park hours.
On our way back, less than a block from the Gardens, the accelerator pedal of my car was forced down. The brakes were not responding either. The car accelerated and rather than allowing it to get up to top speed, I crashed it into the nearest light pole - trying to avert further damage to bystanders or others on the road.
The car wrapped around the light pole, pinning my door shut. Wafting gasoline permeated the area indicating a leak in the fuel tank. The seat belt seemed to be busted and was unresponsive. Arkos produced a knife from what I believe to have been her boot, and I, my own from the Supernal.
At this point Tempest, Quidam, and Solaris came running down the street.
Solaris stood in front of the car, pacing back and forth while flipping a coin.
Out of the corner of my eye I caught Quidam and Tempest attempting to bash the window with a large object, but I was too focused on trying to get free.
Arkos managed to get her seatbelt to work at the same time I was breaking the front windshield. Arkos lept from the car... and Solaris' nimbus flared. There wasn't enough time to react before the gas tank exploded lifting the back portion of the car high into the air and then banging back onto the street.
The flames wrapped around my body and the intense heat kept me from concentrating on what happened around me. The last thing that I saw was a man running towards the car before I latched onto my Supernal realm and called down the powers of the Space Arcanum to escape the flames.
Something went wrong though. I didn't make it to my destination. Instead I found myself in the presence of a Jester who stood watch over me until I was collected enough to respond to him. We had a cordial conversation in which he healed the majority of the wounds I had suffered and introduced me to "The Game"....
I am the first to "Play The Game" and any can meet his company by attempting to use a Teleportation or Portal spell. As he put it, he controls the Ins and Outs.
The Game is about Pranks.
The rules are simple.
Don't die.
Don't get pranked three times.
Complete the best prank.
The tone was uncertain as to whether he had caused the car accident or any of the events that followed, but he seemed to be decent enough. I have been pranked once already. Two more could mean my life.
I was told later that sometime during the confusion Tempest had lost control of his own body, that Quidam had been decapitated by the man who was running towards me in the burning car and that Captain A.J. Morgan had died four days previous.
I can at least confirm that this Jester is responsible for the bum riding the rhinocerous and for the "Play The Game" phenomenon that's been happening, but no others so far.
