Should Omaha Have NCRE 11?

I have a lot of time to think at work. I've been doing it for 9 years so it becomes second nature.

I was thinking about having NCRE 11 in Lincoln this next year. I'd be willing to make a presentation if I can get enough info on what people want to see at the next NCRE, and if they are willing to help or not.

Please post a response with your vote. I was just thinking about this and it sounded like a possibility if we are ambitious enough, and we got the ball rolling early enough.

I feel next year could be OUR year. It has been a long time since we had one in Nebraska at all.

Just so you know, this was one of my goals from the time I stepped into the DST position last year.

Problem is, we're on a two year schedule for Regional events now, so NCRE 11 is not going to be until 2009.

Doesn't mean we can't start planning it and working toward it, but we have a lot of work to do in two years to make it happen. It can be done, and it would be a great thing for this domain, but it's going to be work.

I asked some questions to the Regional list and what else might help as well as to our Omaha-OOC . Let's see what the people have to say. I can work on this and see what we can get in Lincoln if you work and see what we can get in Omaha? Sound good?

There's nothing to say that we can't use some of it for a Featured Game of the Month as well!

What about doing a little fund raising before hand as well. I mean we got 2 years for planning and such. We could get a Really expensive hotel if we put effort into it, not just out of our own pockets.

I keep hearing we are cash strapped Domain... so.. do something about it! FUND RAISE!

I will look into some ideas for this and see what we can do.

I used to be in Boy Scouts, so if could double our fundrasing efforst to go to a charity as well.. that would be great in my mind, or is that just not kosher?

I voted that it should be in Omaha, but that is primarily because those folks who fly in would have an easier time of it.

Overall though, I'll help regardless of where it is.

As for doing advance fund-raising - it's never too early to raise money for the domain.

But if we raise money for NCRE-11, then that money goes to the con - regardless of where the con is. If KS gets the bid, then any money we raised for ncre should go there. Just something to think about
