This question is about my background. I know it used to be that if you had a character that spent any serious time in another city, you had to get your background approved not only locally, but with the ST of the out of town chapter. So, what if the area your character is from has no chapter? Do I need to get my background approved with the Dark Places ST or is the local ST enough?
Thanks!! Alysen "working on a background" Ficklin

If your background includes stuff like "I was Prince of Kumana-wana-lei-u for 10 years, and then slaughtered all of their Invictus and Nosferatu"...then yeah, you'd want to get a background OK from the RST of the region if there is no chapter there. If it's not chronicle bending...then probably no approval is really needed outside of the norm.

It's still a general rule of thumb to contact the correct storyteller even if your character didn't impact chronicle. Taken from personal example in mage, there was no Awakening venue in NYC at the time I created Verdhandi but I still needed to notify the DST because she lived in the area.

Thanks you guys - - To be honest, if my character is from a different area, she would be totally underground and off any vampiric radar, so I have no plans to make anything that makes much of an impact in her background area.

Out of curiosity, are there any Cam chapters in Mexico? There weren't last I checked, but it's been a while, so I figured I'd ask, just in case.

I'm pretty sure Mexico counts as Dark Places...

Would I need a special approval to have background story stuff in one of the Dark Places? Or is it just a matter of having the information on file somewhere?

Not EXACTLY sure how it works, but I believe it just needs to be on file and rubberstamped to make sure it is 1) Compatable with other backgrounds set in the area and 2) Reasonable...
Thats how I THINK it works....

You don't need any kind of approval but having an e-mail on file somewhere that you spoke with the VST and they are cool with your character being in that area for that timeframe is a good thing because you never know, it might be a Dark Places today but tomorrow could have its own chapter or domain and part of their history.
